Donald Trump has issues an apparent warning to Hamas, threatening “all hell to pay” if hostages held in gaza are not released by the time he returned to the White House. Back in october of 2023, Hamas had attacked Israel where 1200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. Now one of those hostages has been killed, which has caused growing tensions between everyone. Trump has generally spoken about ending foreign conflicts, not just with Israel but also Russia and Ukraine. He has continually thrown his support with Israel but he has also urged american ally to end its military operation. The Israeli-American solider to have believed that had died is, Omer Neutra. And now there are released videos of another solider caught up in the attacks. Edan Alexander, the hostage in the video, has now called upon Trump and Netanyahu(aka Prime minister of Israel) to negotiate for his freedom. This has caused Trump to go on and say, “If the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume office as president of the Untied STates, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY int eh Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against humanity.” He ends his post by saying, “RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!” Senior Hamas Official claims that Netanyahu had sabotaged all efforts to secure a deal in exchanging the hostages.
` Honestly, I wish this surprised me but it really doesn’t. Trump has always been the kind of man that makes us better out to be than we really are. Yes, the U.S. can stop the war in Ukraine and Russia, we can stop the war in Israel and Gaza, but at what cost? Of course we could but more people could and would die, so yes we are ending war but we are also losing people doing it. So obviously Hamas doesn’t like us because we have relations with Israel, but again we have so many issues within our country I am not sure it if the best idea to start focusing on other countries problems.
I find that a lot of people in our country are not happy with our president supporting Israel, or at least on the side of social media and the people I am around. I find that each of these people are quite upset with what Trump was saying. I feel this warning as gotten many mixed responses from the people of this country. That is something that I think is also gonna happen in the next four years, more division between the people of the country. So this will cause all sort of chaotic craziness among the people of the country.
I remember when Hezbollah had fired missiles on israel this year and that is what this article had reminded me of, I also remember talking about that in class as well. This all also connects to realists theory, how Israel wants the territory of palestine and how since we have relations with israel so we are kinda there to help them whether we like it or not we can’t really backstab them based on what we believe is right. Which is something countries also seem to do, they tend to ignore their growing internal problems and focus more outward when it comes down to it.
