The death toll is increasing in sudan’s west Darfur due to clashing tribes. in the region they have heard gun shots for hours on end. the power is out due to a rocket propelled grenade hitting the power station. another has hit a hospital and the a UN compound in the region. thousands are fleeing to neighboring countries like Chad to try and escape the fighting. The government of Sudan has declared a state of emergency. the fighting and killing has go through a resurgence in recent times due to the signing of a peace agreement and the removal of UN peacekeeping forces. the attackers are using heavy weaponry and RPG’s. The UN has also suspended flights and aid operations to the are. it is estimated that 700,000 people will be effected by this. Ethnic minority groups complaining of marginalisation had taken up arms against the central government, which responded by unleashing armed groups largely made up of Arab nomads. brokering lasting peace in the area is a hard thing to do and has been the main challenges for Sudan.

This effects the region because countless innocent people are going to lose their lives to do a dispute between two tribes of the area. the Sudan government does not have the equipment or he forces to step in and stop this from happening so now the UN has to step in again after the tribes signed the peace agreement. Sudan needs to find a way to solve this problem either by keeping a military influence in the area to stop outbreaks like this to happen again or find a common ground between the two tribes.

This connects to class through geopolitics, the tribes are technically apart of Sudan but Sudan has no way of controlling them. this people are neighboring tribes that fight one another due to a long history of conflict.
