Analysis Post: US forces admit killing 33 civilians in Taliban clash

The November 3rd fight where the United States and Afghan troops carried out a ground and air assault against the Taliban, is still a relevant topic because now the investigation has come out with the exact numbers of Taliban lives killed and the even more pressing number: how many innocent lives were killed. The big controversy to this topic is whether or not the United States and Afghan troops should have called on to air support for assistance because this caused many innocent lives to be killed.

It is now known that 33 innocent lives were taken that day, including women and children. It is also known that 26 Taliban fighters including three “top leaders who led the capture of Kunduz”, were also killed.

The spokesperson for the military said  “The only real option we had at that point was to conduct air strikes as the Taliban were attacking Afghan and US forces vigorously,” However, United Nations and humanitarian organisations only condemn this and believe that the air strikes were unnecessary.

This is a tough matter because it is important that the Taliban are killed, however at what cost? Is it worth for innocent lives to be killed now so that lives in the future aren’t killed because of the Taliban? There are defiantly two sides to this matter.
