My analysis is that the chance of Iran actually starting a war with the US was close to zero. The media in general made a gigantic deal about how world war three was gonna start, but in actuality the Iranians wanted no part of a conflict with the US. What a war with the US would mean is total economic and physical destruction of the country of Iran. The leaders of Iran might be extremely angry and they do have a right to be, but they know that attacking and killing a service man or woman would cause an even more aggressive assault from Trump. So the stunt they pulled were they shot missiles at an American camp was just to save face with their people when in actuality they were trying to avoid killing any Americans. The risk of World War 3 breaking out was way overblown and in my opinion the chances of war were probably below ten percent just because it wouldn’t make any sense for either country. I think that the news outlets in America were selling fear just to get more clicks on their sites. Also with the anti-Trump sentiments that were going around it was easy to accuse Donald Trump of getting us into a massive war. In actuality he had gotten rid of a man who was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans. In truth the Iranians were lucky that there attack was off the mark, because what could have started a war is the retaliation that Trump would have taken out on Iran. Later in the article it says how close we were to actual war, but Trump shows restraint. Despite being a Republican I think these past two examples show that Trump doesn’t want to go to war and would rather find ways to de escalate conflicts in the Middle East. In conclusion, I think the whole situation was overblown by the media and I think that this conflict will going away in the coming year.
