Mortar fire from Myanmar on the Rohingya refugees are becoming a constant source of tension between Myanmar and Bangladesh. It has been known for a while that the Rohingyan people are a stateless people, who have no country that will formally accept them. After having been forced out of Myanmar through the now internationally known genocide of the Rohingyan people, the majority of refugees have taken home on the outskirts of Myanmar and Bangladesh. A place now known as no-mans land for both of the countries. Constant mortar and artillery fire from the Myanmar government has led to this strip of land becoming the home to constant deaths within the already scarce Rohingyan population. However, it seems that recently the fire has gotten too close for comfort for the Bangladeshi government. Who now is receiving mortar fire on their side of the strip, leading to a new tension with the Myanmar.

The awful genocide of the Rohingyas has led to nothing but loss for their people, and the rising tensions between their oppressors and Bangladesh, does not seem to be helping them at all. Bangladesh has already taken a lot of Rohingya refugees into their country, but all of the recent tensions have led to the foreign minister of Bangladesh to formally state that the country will no longer be taking any more refugees. Obviously, this is not good for their people, and if any conflict should come between the two governments, the nearly five thousand people living in the no-mans land should have no where to go, and be stuck between two opposing forces.

The stateless people within the Rohingya have been without a home since 2016. The genocide started in 2016 as well. Ultimately, they need another country to step in and take them in, because in this current state of affairs, they will not be able to protect themselves. This dominance approach from Myanmar will ultimately either lead to a war, or full extinction of the refugees still without a place to go in the no mans land.
