Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi is set to visit Chinese president Xi Jinping for three days to strengthen their ties with one another. Their visit will entail varying cooperation documents, business discussions and additional parts of the trip itinerary. The purpose of this visit between the two states is to hopefully strengthen political and economic ties against the U.S western dominant power over international affairs. China depends on Iran heavily for its oil supply and is a big part of Iran’s economy. Altogether, both countries have signed a 25 year agreement that discussed major economic endeavors like mining, transportation and agriculture.

The strengthening of this relationship will not only benefit both states, but also secure a partnership between the two. As both states openly expressed their rivalry against U.S power,  this will establish allied friendship between one another against the western growing power. In that case, that could all together form a greater push against western power within Asia, which will specifically work to China’s advantage as they work to surpass the U.S as a world power. In a way, this relationship is an example of, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” because of the dislike both states share for the U.S form a bond between the both that is similarly motivated.

This relates back to what we discussed in class because it covers the climate in which other states view U.S power. It also provides an example as to how states will work with one another in a mutual relationship of benefit to sustain each other economically, politically and more for the future.
