There was a meeting in New Delhi on Monday September 11th, 2023 between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. They talked about their current positive relationship and how they would like to continue that, as well as, their trade agreements. The trade between India and Saudi Arabia was $52.75 billion from 2022-2023. They are both very impactful traders for one another. Their trade is mostly based on oil but also includes IT, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, ect. With this meeting they decided to increase trade and security ties with one another. They also touched on the importance of cooperating to remind each other and themselves that their nations will grow and thrive with the positive relationships they maintain.

With the teamwork and cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia they can set an example for the countries surrounding them. They can thrive economically and socially which could hopefully help reduce the wars in the region. This public meeting allowed the citizens of those countries and all around the world to see how well those countries were working together. It is definitely a tactic to show your strong alliances to scare off possible invasions. Especially the ones that are so long lasting. For almost 100 years the leaders of both countries have been constantly visiting the other to hold such strong ties. In the article, it also mentioned Joe Biden’s view on their relationship. He basically just stated that he was happy to see they were working so well together. Even though the US President is just one take on the topic, It is interesting to know how the United States is feeling about these world issues.

This article directly relates to what we discuss everyday in class; the relationships between states and how it not only affects those specific states but can also affect many parts of the world. If they are not maintaining a good relationship they can pull their allies into the issue and could cause a possible downturn in the economy of the surrounding regions. Maintaining strong relationships with other countries can allow you to keep allies and trade partners. Which is always important to have just in case there is a chance of war. These strong relationships will keep your own state and ones around the globe more stable overall.
