Aids is a problem across the world, making Africa no different. In South Africa more than 1,000 people a day are infected by AIDS.  The South African Medical Research Council is hoping to change these numbers by 2020. The Medical Research Council and the United States are helping fund and set up clinics where volunteers can get tested and take the shots required for the study. Millions a year die from Aids and although there has been extensive research since the first cases appeared, 21st century research and technology are hoping to reduce these numbers. Personally, I believe health issues and finding cures is very important in society so when I heard South Africa, the largest HIV drug treatment program in the world, is continuing to find a cure for a disease that affects millions across the world, I was ecstatic because it does have the opportunity to benefit so many people.

In Mali voters had the opportunity to express there right for the first time in two years. Isis does control parts of the region with in Mali making it had to campaign in those parts of the country.

One of Grant’s posts I almost posted too! So I did want to take some time and reflect on it because its an issue that is affecting hundreds of thousands of refugees. Kenya has planned to shut down one of the largest refugee camps in the world, forcing thousands Somalians out. These people that are now being kicked out of the refugee camp have already had to leave their homes in Somalia due to the war and conflict that is going on. Its hard to see the international conflict, but its quite similar to the George Mason class discussion what we are working on now. I really liked the hands on project, its so different in you would have to do it in other classes.
