Stability in Africa

The stability in Africa first started to decline with the Berlin Conference and by 1914 about 90% of Africa was under European leadership. Africa has had difficulty because the borders can be blurry. Different ethnic and cultural groups are being put together in one country and they have a hard time working collaboratively because of their different beliefs. With civil wars and terrorist groups it has been nearly impossible for Africa to have a time of complete stability. Now in Africa there have been multiple accusations against political figures for corruption showing that Africa is still and unstable continent. Kenya which has had the reputation for being one of the more stable countries in Africa has been in some trouble with all the recent controversy in their latest election. The people in Africa want to be stable. They want to be a more modernized society. They have been exposed to the quality of life that they want to have and now are more vocal about it and will stand up against politicians that abuse their power. I feel like this is especially important because now that the people that have been used by these politicians see through their power. Change for more stable leaders that are loyal to their people is desperately needed. But with this growing instability it’s also a danger that groups like the Boko Haram will be able to seize power and inflict even more fear in these people.
