The Syrian Civil War is a conflict between the Dictatorship of Al Assad and rebel groups who want a different leader. There has been conflict with the refugees and where they will end up. Germany has stepped up and taken a lot of Syrian refugees into their country but other countries such as Greece and Spain do not have the money to support them because of their economy. The cost of taking in these refugees is exponential and Spain is already starting with an unstable economy. The cost of training these refugees for jobs will also cost a lot of money that the government does not have to spend. Another issue with taking in refugees from Syria has been a huge backlash against Muslims. People are worried that this intake of immigrants will increase terrorism in countries that take them in. Because of the proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, a lot of Syrians have been entering Spain which then they are responsible for. All together the EU has agreed not to take in any more migrants and confine the refugees that are residing in European countries. Spain has enacted a plan that will lessen the huge refugee population in Spain. This plan includes strengthening diplomatic ties, ending connection with countries who are feeding into the problem in Syria, enhancing security, and creating other routes for the refugees to follow. In my opinion based off my country’s policy, Spain should continue to enhance their plan so that they find a solution for both Spain and the refugees. I think a major part of the plan is cutting ties with countries who are fueling the war because they will see that they are losing trade partners and hopefully stop the aid they are giving Syria. They should discuss the plan with the EU to put it in action as fast as they can so they can end this refugee crisis.
