The vice president of Gambia, Dr. Isatou Touray, has affirmed that the Gambia through National Coordination Mechanism on Migration made it clear they are committed to accepting people who didn’t get accepted into European countries. Dr. Touray explained that her offices will continue to work with the International Organization for Migration. She also explained that her continued work could drive the economy of Gambia if they are able to accept their immigrants back. Dr. Touray has been a key proponent in helping the government of Gambia realize that immigration will have a positive impact on sustained economic growth and sustainable development.

Gambia is already a small, underdeveloped country with little to no impact to their region. They are the smallest country in the region and need some sort of a boost. Dr. Touray is doing a great job at getting the government of The Gambia to realize that accepting their immigrants back into their country could help the economy with a jumpstart. With the improved technology of the state ground house could also help the government with the added migration into their country. With a jumpstart to Gambia’s economy, they could finally begin to develop, and have a self sustaining economy.

If Gambia was able to develop and have a self sustaining economy then they could start to interact with other countries and gain some allies. Given that most countries in Africa are near the economic level that Gambia is it would be really hard for all of Africa to pull themselves out of a hole. However if Gambia is able to do it, and they can have somewhat of a model for other countries to try and follow. Then Gambia will be able to trade with other countries, and have foreign relations as well which will then help boost their economy.
