The Northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado is facing a humanitarian crisis as their people are on the brink of a deadly food crisis. This crisis would be detrimental to Mozambique and could have more impactful factors following it, such as large increase in chronic child malnutrition. In several of their communities, food aid is compromised because of ongoing instability that forced them to stop farming and live as internally displaced people in accommodation centres. Agai Mario, the Provincial Director of Economic Activities, said that ever since the start of the deadly attacks in 2017, over 80,000 people abandoned growing crops to protect their safety.

This crisis will only add to the issues facing the country at the time, with others being the ongoing militant attacks on civilians, agricultural issues, and of course the corona virus. All these issues place a heavy economic toll on Mozambique and their people, meaning both prices on goods and poverty rates could rise. The remaining farmers will be bombarded with the responsibility of producing crops for a larger amount of people they are used to. If the attacks continue, Mozambique may face a huge crisis in regards to their food supply, as more and more farmers will continue to stop producing crops.

The United States could easily step in an help Mozambique with this crisis, though do they want to? President Joe Biden just recently being appointed as the next President of the US is in charge of this decision. Unfortunatly America is in shambles right now, dealing with many issues of its own. With a brand new president trying to fix the many issues facing the country, a well as trying to gain the trust and support from the american citizens, President Biden and America as a whole are not in the best place to start helping other struggling countries. If Mozambique had valuable natural resources or a strong geographic importance, America would probably be more prone to help as well
