Chile sees Covid surge despite vaccination success https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-56731801

The number of daily cases reached a new high in Chile since April of 2020. The peak was just over 9,000 which is considerably higher than the previous peak at 7,000. The health minister of Chile says that it is “worrying” that the cases are continuing to climb even though that they have been so successful at vaccinating a large amount of their citizens. Experts say that the cause of this surge is that they had a premature celebration over the success of the vaccine roll out and began returning to normalcy too soon. Others speculate that the vaccine given to over 98% of the 18 million citizens ( which is from china) only has a 50% efficacy rate at best.

I think that this is extremely annoying. I just want to see the world go back to normalcy and the fact that people are getting so close, but still are being forced to quarentine is hearbreaking. I hope that Chile and all other countries around the world can get through these second waves and return to normalcy.

It is clear that Chile is an effective government. As I had mentioned before, more democratic governments tend to be more effective. Therefore, it is fair to conclude that Chile indeed does have a democratic gov and that a democratic gov is effective at dealing with different types of issues thrown at them.
