Last Wednesday night a suspected Islamic group killed 16 people in the rural part of the Eastern democratic republic of congo. The attackers belong to a group called The Allied Democratic Forces who are linked to Islamic State and have been known to be at fault for killing hundreds of congo civilians since 2019. Thay have also been at fault for carrying out recent bombings in Uganda. Sources have also said that an unknown number of people have been kidnapped. Last month Congo and Uganda launched a joint military operation against this Islamic group. Uganda has said they plan to stay as long as necessary until these attacks come to a stop.

This article is important because it shows that countries are working together and forming military allilances to stop these Islamic terrorist attacks. Although these attacks happen almost on the regular in different parts of the world it is important to know that it is not only the United States trying to stop them. Uganda and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo will have a lasting alliance. I think that these events and attacks that have been happening are terrible and it is good to know that there are countries doing good and trying to stop these terrorists.

This article relates to what we have talked about in class because of the way Uganda and the Easter Democratic Republic of Congo are working together to take down this Islamic Terrorist group. It is in both Uganda’s national interest and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo’s National interest to stop this islamic terrorist group. This also falls under the collective goods problem because both countries are contributing military troops to take down this group to get the same thing out of it.
