Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the worst hit regions by cancer in the world, and the annual death rate from cancer could hit 1 million by 2030. That is almost double the number of cancer deaths in 2020, which was 520,000. In 2040 it is expected to be doubled and hit 1.4 million cancer related deaths per year. 4.2% of all cancer related cases are originated from Sub-Saharan Africa currently, with breast and cervical cancer being the most common cancers in the region.

This is a major crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa, and should get more medical treatment plans and help from the Red Cross and international organizations. Childhood cancer also needs to be addressed. There are 56.3 cases per million in childhood cancer is Sub-Saharan Africa, and by 2050 half of childhood cancer cases are projected to take place in Africa. A new release claims that this increase in cancer could be a cause of infections, environmental exposures, ageing populations, and infrastructure challenges. This has devastating effects in this region because of the lack of healthcare available for cancer treatments, and needs to be a top priority in the AU and UN.

This article relates to international organizations and relief and sustainability in Africa. Cancer rates are rapidly rising in Africa, and international organizations are acting accordingly. The rates are expected to double in 10 years, and double again in another 10 years after.
