Many protests have broken out due to President Jovenel Moïse not stepping down from office after his term and announcing his second year of ruling by decree. He believes it is justified since he only got into office in 2017, because of a delayed inauguration caused by chaos. This chaos caused schools to close, along with businesses and government. Opposition wants to enact a new political and social system to combat this and other ideals that they believe are wrong, like dissolving parliament. He Moise will stay in office because he is legally binded to do so. The thought of people having power that they shouldn’t sound very familiar to me regarding the US system now. We have faced similar acts like closed businesses and school, but Covid-19 was the cause. We are also facing an election like no other, and if the conservatives were more hostile, I believe the government would have put into action plans to shut down businesses and schools for the safety of the country. Last year, I believed the inauguration would be delayed like what happened in Haiti, but now it wont happen (I think). The people not agreeing with government is something that happens all over the world. Whether it be an opposing party or organization who thinks the others are wrong, they may do whatever they think is right to get their goal achieved. At the very least the protests have been calm and Moise has not assumed a dictatorship, but as a left-wing country that is something that could happen out of nowhere.
