Killings of Colombia ex-FARC fighters persist amid peace process

The Revolution of Armed Forces of Columbia have been targeted and killed by unknown groups for the past years, with killings still happening today. Since 2017 the Marxist group has been demobilized, giving up over 7,000 weapons for a UN peace deal. Over 250 have been killed after this event and it seems they have little protection in their reintegration camps where they want to embrace democracy. The current president of Columbia said their protection was not a priority, in addition to saying it’s hard to pinpoint who killed them due to many groups like cartels and gangs being active. After reading about this group I have found they have been in conflict resulting in over 250,000 people being killed and many war crimes, which I find insane. I feel as though they should be happy with not being killed yet, but if the United Nations Security Council says the former rebels and activists need more protection, then I guess they are fine. If any group is targeted, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of them. Even though the army and police watch over these camps, somehow they are still getting killed. Even if the UN tells them to get better security, Columbia won’t do anything unless the UN takes action. A government ignoring these acts is a humanitarian issue and something has to happen, because similar things like this happen and will continue to happen i they yare left unchecked by democratic countries.
