I think that south and central Asia is in utter turmoil at this point in time. Rather than being one with each other and settling with a compromise they continue to act in violence, civil war, and ethnic cleansings. In a country like the United States we are used to living in harmony and as one large society who can settle things with each other peacefully, for the most part. In countries like these in south and central Asia they don’t have this luxury, they are oppressed and forced to leave their homes and fight one another because they live in poverty, don’t agree with others moral philosophies, killing and getting killed in the name of someone else’s concept of God. As a young white male in the United States of America I have never really been exposed to religious oppression, financial drought and all around pure hatred and tyranny, so hearing about these things going on in other places in the world sounds far-fetched and I can’t quite grasp the concept of civil war, or racism, or ethnic cleansing it all just sounds so unfathomable to me. However, I can imagine what it’s like to live somewhere like this and feeling the way these people do, I think the world we live in today is disgusting but at the same time I don’t really worry about it because it doesn’t directly affect me, yet. I truly believe however that diplomacy and compromise would solve many of the issues south and central Asia is facing today.
