In South Sudan, it has been stated by experts that due to the political disputes from the 2018 peace deal, that in result there has now been a civil war. ” United Nations report warns that the slow implementation of a revitalised peace accord in South Sudan risks pushing the country back into a “large-scale conflict”. Due to South Sudan becoming a hotspot for political, military, and most important ethnic divisions, South Sudan has become an area for violent acts to take place. For example, one of the predominant signatories is the ceasefire that took place last year, 2020, that was a consideration of reneneared war. Sadly, due to the cause of that 100,000 people are facing famine conditions. “In the 81-page report sent to the UN Security Council a panel of experts said slow-moving reforms by President Salva Kiir’s government and more than a year of political disputes and disagreements over how to implement the February 2020 ceasefire and a 2018 peace agreement has led to frayed relations between Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar.”

How can this conflict be stopped? Due to the UN trying to involve themselves, the unfortunate thing is they can’t enforce anything, however allies can. Pridomitaly due to this reason, allies of Sudan need to take action. It has been reported that nearly 400,000 people have died because of this. The article mentions President Salva Kiir’s trying to take action in 2020 with a new plan, however it just is infectious. He is more concerned on oil disputes that date back to 2018, then the peace deal that is causing an outbreak. Sudan needs a stable economy and in order to do that I do believe that they could end this war, while still supplying oil. The best option is the United States, despite rocky points maybe in their relationship, the United States can offer soldiers and military resources/ funds, in agreement for oil. That way Sudan doesn’t have to spend so much money on trying to prevent this conflict from going any farther, and just use their oil for those resources that are highly in need.

This article relates to class by discussing the UN and what exactly it is.The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization that aims to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations between countries, achieve international cooperation, and become the center of coordination of national actions.
