In my last analysis post I argued that the United States should increase its involvement in Africa both to fight terrorism and for economic gain by both our nation and African nations.  However, I first wish to qualify that statement with this:  The U.S. should be militarily involved in the fight against terror in Africa, but it is critical that African nations not become dependent on our forces and abilities to combat their problems.  The U.S. has witnessed the consequences of over-involvement in Iraq and must avoid this mistake in Africa.  Africanization rather than Americanization will ensure long-term stability and public faith in Africa.

Second, I strongly support Germany’s emerging stance on Africa.  The country no longer wishes to miss out on the economic market of Africa.  No doubt that joining the African market will open a world of economic doors for Germany, and German politics revolve around job creation, ,something Sub-Saharan Africa desperately needs.  In improving the overall conditions in Sub-Saharan Africa Germany also wishes to stem the tide of migrants ad refugees from the region.  This is precisely the attitude that foreign powers must have towards Africa.  And in case the United States does decide to partially or entirely withdraw from the African continent, it’s heartening to know that other powers are willing to take the reins on the road to Africa’s rebuilding.
