The US among other countries have requested that Uganda take in 2 million more refugees into their country amidst the Afghanistan troubles. The Ugandan authorities accepted which created confusion throughout the countries critics. Uganda has been hit hard throughout this pandemic, economically. Which left the government with lower finances. That includes the refugee budget. Ugandas have been more open in taking in people in crisis as some of them have been exiled from their own country. Including, the current president Yoweri Museveni who was exiled from his own country. A group of exiles overthrew the previous leader and are in charge of the current Uganda.

This becomes a big issue between other countries when Uganda wont be able to properly house these refugees. Uganda has its own internal problems and its current finances arent able to support another 2 million refugees. The US as well as the other countries who requested Uganda take these refugees must either, help Ugandas refugee budget, Split these refugees among different countries, Or entirely skip Uganda and bring these refugees to a country which is better suited to house the amount of refugees coming in.

This shows how interconnected International Relations are. This particular issue has 3 regions of the world working together. Region 6 (americas) has requested Uganda (region 5) to take in refugees from Afghanistan (region 2). Multiple regions in the world are working “together” to uphold the countries personal ethics.Through the United States actions, Uganda has stepped up to take these refugees into their country. The Ugandans are known to treat refugees better compared to other countries. even giving houses and land to farm on. During a pandemic which took a huge tool on their economy, and an unprecedented amount of refugees coming in. Only time will show if the Ugandas are able to handle the large number coming in.
