Ghanas has voiced its frustration towards the European countries not recognizing Covidshield as a legitimate vaccine. The UK has recently come out and said fully vaccinated Vividshield citizens will still have to go under a 10 day quarantine when arriving in the country. The news came a couple days after Ghana ordered an additional 5 million doses which a lot of people are now calling “unusable”.
This article is important because some long lasting impacts could be a worsening relationship with Ghana and the UK. If Ghana ends up cancelling its order for more doses, we can see the relationship between Ghana and India worsen. This shows how international relations and business don’t always align with each other’s interests. This is another example of how different regions of the world do business together which affects the political interests and can decline relations between countries.
This is a perfect example of international relations. The british don’t recognize the Indian made vaccine which now leaves countries like Ghana in a predicament to either cancel the additional doses and ruin business relationships with India or go through with the order to keep India as a business partner but go against its political interests which now leaves Ghanian citizens who are fully vaccinated “useless” in terms of fully vaccinated people. With the Ghanian president voicing his frustration we could see the Indian authorities coming and voicing theirs. If other European nations join the British in not recognizing the Covidshield vaccine, we could see more heated exchange between these countries and even a declining political and business relationship.
