Ethiopia: United States Announces Additional Humanitarian Assistance for the Northern Ethiopia Crisis

In Northern Ethiopia, a war broke out around ten months ago between two seperate parts of the country. The Tigray People’s Liberation Front and Ethiopian’s federal troops. The war has taken a devastating toll on Ethiopia’s population. Today it is considered a humanitarian crisis. Ethiopian people are being slaughtered in the streets, forced to flee their homes, and unable to gather basic human resources. The United States has seen the crisis that Ethiopia has been going through and has recently donated an additional 26 million dollar amount to add to the 663 million dollar total. The assistance will provide lifesaving protection, shelter, essential health care, emergency food assistance, water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
The United States decision to be involved in the assistance of keeping the Ethiopian people safe truly shows that they will assist their allies in need. Ethiopians are truly going through a crisis and will need everything that they can get. While 26 million dollars may relatively not be a large amount, it is adding to their staggering total of 663 million dollars. This amount will most definitely be vital to the safety of thousands, maybe millions of Ethiopians alike. The United States involvement as a major super power, will create a stronger alliance with Ethiopia and help maintain the United States as a superpower.
This relates to class because it shows why one country will help another. In this case it was the United States assisting Ethiopia, because Ethiopia’s strong alliance to the United States they are assisting them financially to help maintain their relationship. This also relates to class because the Tigray People’s Liberation front is an NGO. This Non Governmental Organization in specific works against the government of their country in order to liberate them.
