Due to the new Covid-19 variant Nigeria has planned to put four countries including Argentina, Britain, Canada, and Saudi Arabia on a red list which means that they are travel banned. This will also cause all incoming and outgoing flights to be banned as well. The omicron variant was first detected in Southern Africa and Hong Kong. Since it was first detected it has spread to fifty seven countries including the United States. Argentina, Britain, Canada, and Saudi Arabia have been flagged as high risk countries. This is why these countries have been placed on a red list and a travel ban by most countries.

This article is important because the corona virus has been going on for almost two years and it shows countries are doing everything they can to try and stop surges and protect their own country from having more outbreaks. This is happening because everyone knows the detrimental effect the corona virus can have on one’s country and again countries are doing everything they can do to protect themselves from more deaths and more people from getting sick. I am glad countries are imposing more strict rules so we can hopefully be done with this coronavirus.

This connects to what we have been learning and talking about in class because it is in Nigeria National interest to stop the spread of the corona virus and protect their people. Although this could have some negative effects on their country it will ultimately have positive effects. Some negative effects it could have on Nigeria is it could affect their economy by limiting their tourism income. Although they would not gain a big sum of money from tourism there still will be a difference. Positive impacts that this travel ban will have on Nigeria is slowing the spread of the virus and protecting Nigerian citizens.
