At Washington State University, there was a study released by the universities Communications Biology. The study involved scientists using human while blood cell membranes to release two drugs- one for anti-inflammation and the other as an antibiotic to target infected lungs. Both of these were tested on mice with ill lungs, and they found that both delivered successful treatment. Because the treatment helped and inflammation and the bacterial growth, scientists are suspecting that this could potentially treat other viral diseases like Covid-19. Reasons that this type of treatment could be so beneficial is because with what is on the market now targets your whole body, causing the potential for toxicity. With these treatments- it is one time and targets exactly what it is supposed to. If the method gets proven to be safe for humans, this could lead the way to so many different drugs (made in this same style with the blood cells) to treat all different types of infectious diseases.

This could be a huge innovation for the medical/ pharmaceutical industries’. There are so many people skeptical of taking vaccines and other types of medicines because, like stated in the beginning, they target your entire body rather then just the infected area. This reduces the risk of toxins or other toxic things getting into your body or blood stream, and they go directly to one area- the area infected. This is also fairly easy, so if this was to get approved, this could be a much more beneficial and successful way of delivering medicines. Especially taking into consideration Covid-19 and the new strands its producing- this could be a faster and safer way to protect and heal people.

As this is being studied in the United States and if it were to be approved, this could become a leading way to give patients medicine and heal infection quicker and safer. This could spread around the world, and eventually lead to even more advancements, studies, and ideas. This could set the stage for so many much more to come.
