China has failed to settle the frontier with its very small neighbor Bhutan. China has been in talks with Bhutan since 1984, but has failed continually to take care of their border issue. China has encroached on their border numerous times over the years, and Bhutan has an extremely small territory and a small population of 778,000. The aggression shown violates China and Bhutan’s treaty of 1998 not to resort to unilateral action. President Xi Jinping is expanding his territory with his expansionist agenda, which is threatening to Bhutan.

This is very detrimental to Bhutan, as conflict with China, who 1.3 billion people compared to almost 800,000, would mean their end. It also hurts Bhutan economically, because they heavily rely on bigger economies like China to trade with. China can rule in multiple ways-those being militaristic or economically, and add on 1.3 billion people living there, and they are the strongest country in Asia. Compare that to tiny Bhutan, who doesn’t have the resources to defend themselves, and China can steamroll them. This potential impact could lead China to defeat Bhutan and take over that territory and do various things to its citizens.

This relates to realism, as China is a strong border expanding, militaristically powerful nation. They hae and strong economy that a small country like Bhutan relies on. China’s border disputes with them make them an invasion threat to Bhutan, and China could easily show their military strength to gain new territory that would formerly be Bhutan. Bhutan is more liberalist, try to keep peace relations with China, and benefit economically from them. This als relates to China being a dual power as stated, they are economically powerful, and militaristically powerful.
