Analysis Post: South Africans protest against Zuma as country downgraded to ‘junk’

It is important to understand the significance of a rating of “junk” for South Africa. The global financial markets, especially the credit market, depend heavily on statistical rating organizations. The Big Three credit rating agencies — S&P, Moody’s and Fitch — have dominated the market for years. They provide liquidity in the credit market by giving their stamp of approval… Read more »

Analysis Post— Letter from Africa: Sudanese fight for their African identity

I found it interesting and alarming that people are going to the extreme of bleaching their skin. While I understand that President Omar al-Bashir has an economic incentive to undergo “Arabisation”, he is in a very tough situation because of the diversity and differing interests of his population.

Out of my four articles, I found the one on the five year sentence on the former Nigerian governor to be the most interesting. Most people feel that when they get into a position of power they are invisible and they won’t receive any consequence. One of these people was the former Nigerian governor, Bala James Ngilari. In my last analysis post, I advocated for the United States to allow ourselves into a less restrictive relationship with Nigeria, selling weapons to the country that would enable them to better combat terrorism.  Now I’m advocating for another group to let bygones be bygones.  In the past, Amnesty International has issued damning reports of human rights violations by the… Read more »

That is why… Read more »

Mr. Mahesh Mahtani insist that Ghana will soon become one of the central auto hubs in west Africa. This idea of a thriving car manufacturing business in west Africa could potentially  be beneficial to not only the countries who receive the cars but also the people of Ghana.

Last time, I chose a article about Morocco rejoining the African Union. It has been 33 years since Morocco was in the AU and has now been granted a part in the Union. In the article this week I was able to find out why, despite the disputed Western Sahara, Morocco was allowed back in the AU. Though the debate… Read more »

In my last analysis post I argued that the United States should increase its involvement in Africa both to fight terrorism and for economic gain by both our nation and African nations.  However, I first wish to qualify that statement with this:  The U.S. should be militarily involved in the fight against terror in Africa, but it is critical that… Read more »
